Joey LaRoche of KIPP is Louisiana High School Principal of the Year

A New Orleans principal has been honored as one of the state's top educators for 2017. The Louisiana Education Department named Joey LaRoche the 2017 High School Principal of the Year on Friday (July 15). LaRoche leads KIPP Renaissance High on St. Claude Avenue.

Diamond Akiniboboye answers immediately when asked where she will attend college. "I plan to go to Duke University," she says. She also is quick to say what year she will begin studying there: 2025. Diamond is 6 years old and in kindergarten. Back to School: KIPP Endeavor expanding services, vision

Starting August 9th KIPP Endeavor will be expanding their grade levels and serving Kindergarten to 8th grade. This has been a long-time goal for KIPP, which had previously served students from 5th through 8th grade.

KIPP supports its graduates all the way through college

New Orleans has ten KIPP schools serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. KIPP New Orleans also has a program called KIPP Through College, which supports KIPP middle school and high school alumni on their path to and through college.
