KIPP West Philadelphia is a free, open-enrollment public charter school located in West Philadelphia with an academically intensive program that prepares every student to climb the mountain to college. With an unrelenting focus on results and a whatever-it-takes philosophy, we commit to an extended day and year, asking all team and family members to “work hard” and “be nice” in every endeavor and interaction. Admission is determined by lottery, without regard to academic record, conduct, or socio-economic background.
The mission of KIPP Philadelphia Schools is to develop the character, knowledge, and skills of our students so they will succeed in college, giving them the freedom to shape their futures and positively affect their communities.
Support - As a network of public charter schools, KIPP schools receive the majority of their funds from state and federal governments. However, KIPP offers much more than traditional schools, including an extended school day, week and year, field trips and extracurricular activities. To provide KIPP’s unique educational program, schools rely on support from community members, parents and local foundations.
