As the founding KIPP High School, KHHS commits to helping students develop the strengthened academic and intellectual skills, knowledge, and character necessary for success in college and life. Students have the opportunity to engage in a full range of AP, Honors, and Pre-AP courses; field lessons (including college visits) throughout the school year; enrichment opportunities in the community and around the world during Summer of Learning (SOL); and a variety of clubs and sports including but not limited to Rice DREAM, Escalera, football, basketball, cheer, dance, orchestra, rock band, ceramics, and sculpture.
The KHHS community shares a hunger for improving every day with a focus on the following seven character strengths: grit, zest, self-control, optimism, gratitude, social intelligence, and curiosity. Supportive relationships among students, parents, and teachers are nurtured through an Advisory program and a devoted counseling and instructional staff.
KIPP is committed to equal treatment for all individuals. KIPP does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.
