TULSA, Okla. -The KIPP Tulsa “Showtime” Marching Band bassline is using music, movement and mentorship to shape young musicians while representing their schools across the Tulsa community.

Founded in 2009 at KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory, the band program was established by Donterrio Marzett, now executive director of KIPP Tulsa. As students advanced through grade levels, the program expanded and officially moved into KIPP Tulsa University Preparatory High School in 2019, allowing continuity for student musicians from middle school through high school.

The band represents students from both KIPP Tulsa College Prep and KIPP Tulsa University Prep High School. Under the direction of Curtez Rasool, director of bands, the group performs at football and basketball games, parades, fundraising events and community celebrations throughout the year.

Their next public appearance will be at the new Brookshire in Jenks on February 5 at 10 AM, where the band will showcase its signature blend of sound and precision.
