TULSA, Okla. — KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools is launching football programs for their students. Officials say it is part of their push to get students more involved and to feel more at home at KIPP Tulsa.

Donterrio Marzett, the Superintendent for KIPP Tulsa explains that KIPP is focusing on making sure students are ready for college so they help them apply, visit schools and prepare educationally for that level of learning. Bu Marzett also says it’s important that students have fun so for this school year, middle and high school students are getting football and flag football teams.

“Girls are going to be participating in flag football this year,” says Marzett. “They’re really excited about it as well. We’re doing everything we can to make sure students feel a sense of belonging in our schools.”

Marzett says this year they had a few changes. Their enrollment went up and they changed curriculum to focus more on math and reading. KIPP will also use AI in the classroom to help student learn how to use it to help students better their work.
