Isabella Gomez

KIPP King Collegiate High School

Isabella ‘Amne Gomez is a graduate of KIPP King Collegiate High School. She is passionate about advocating for her Tribe, the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a Tribal Youth Ambassador and represents her Tribal Nation in numerous events with the general public such as reading land acknowledgments, teaching cultural projects, and volunteering at information and cultural exhibit booths. Being passionate about advocating for her Tribe also includes connecting with her culture. She is a head Muwekma Ohlone Youth Female Dancer, where she dances at powwows/cultural events and helps in making dance regalia. Isabella completed an internship at Santa Clara University; a key accomplishment was planning a Tribal youth cultural campout. Isabella is coauthoring peer-reviewed scholarly publications – one of which is about collaborating on the cultural campout. The proposal was accepted for a special issue of College Composition and Communication. Isabella will be attending Santa Clara University and intends to do a double major in Philosophy and Linguistics and a minor in Native American Studies.
