Isaiah Allen, a dedicated Math teacher at KIPP Sharpstown College Prep in Houston, Texas, has been honored with the 2024 Harriett Ball Excellence in Teaching Award. This award recognizes outstanding teachers from the KIPP network. The winning teachers, nominated by their school leaders, were recognized for their leadership and dedication to improving outcomes for students.
Mr. Allen played a pivotal role in shaping KIPP Sharpstown College Prep’s math program and fostering a culture of excellence within the department and our school community. His ability to connect math skills with careers and real-life applications, prepares our students for success beyond the classroom.
Mr. Allen’s students take complete ownership of their learning, and this is a testament to the confidence, curiosity, and perseverance he fosters in each child. His effectiveness in connecting with and positively impacting our students is evident in his students’ growth from 47% to 89% in achieving grade level on the Algebra End-of-Course (EOC) exam.
