Beth rejoined the KIPP Foundation in 2021 to build capacity for KIPP’s regional executive directors and their leadership teams; and in 2022 to step into interim roles overseeing the development and Alumni Impact teams.
Beth was previously the founder and CEO of KIPP Northern California Public Schools for 15 years. In this role, she led the growth of KIPP NorCal to a TK-12 system of 16 schools across five counties serving nearly 7,000 students and supporting over 3,000 alumni in their postsecondary path. During her tenure, she also laid the groundwork for expansion to the Central Valley to launch an additional 5 schools, raised over $250M in philanthropic support of KIPP’s mission, and oversaw an operating budget exceeding $100M. Under her leadership, KIPP NorCal schools consistently outperformed district and state achievement levels, received multiple National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished Schools designations, and were recognized annually in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Ranking.
Prior to her work at KIPP, Beth was on the founding team of NewSchools Venture Fund, a national nonprofit venture philanthropy working to reimagine public education. She holds a B.A. in political science, Master’s in Education, and Master’s in Business Administration, all from Stanford University. She is a proud resident of Oakland, parent of two elementary-school children, and Board member of Braven Bay Area, Caliber Public Schools, Cambiar Education, and Yu-Ming Charter School.
