KIPP Foundation Statement on the American Rescue Plan
The American Rescue Plan signed today provides much-needed financial relief to families and honors workers who have been, and continue to be, on the front line during this pandemic. We applaud the administration for the provisions focused on reducing the number of children living in poverty, keeping them safe and healthy, and paving a path for them to return to school. The billions of relief funding for K-12 schools is a monumental commitment to support America’s education system during a time when it is needed the most. COVID has shone a bright light on a variety of inequities in all our country’s systems, including education. We are grateful that relief is on the way, and KIPP looks forward to working with Congressional leaders and the Biden Administration to ensure that we are seriously and systematically addressing these inequities and that students, families, and educators are supported during this recovery and beyond.
