DC teacher fulfills promise, lets student shave beard after earning highest AP exam score

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One bet turned into a challenge, causing one KIPP DC school teacher to lose his beard- Literally!
It all took place when a high school senior at KIPP DC College Preparatory, DaJuan Jones, was put to the test to get the highest score possible on his AP U.S. Government exam.
Chris Gleditsch, Jones’ AP U.S. Government teacher, pledged that if Jones scored a 5 on the exam, he would allow him to shave off his well-known beard.
Jones didn’t back down and rose to the challenge.
After scoring a 4 on the AP exam last year, Jones spent months preparing for the test. He studied during lunchtime, and he would attend weekend study sessions with his schoolmates.
When the smoke cleared, Jones achieved his goal, earning a 5.
