KIPP Webb Scholars Program to Foster Community Impact
Scholarships will provide direct support and programming
October 3, New York, NY- Today KIPP Public Schools and the Webb Family Foundation are launching a multiyear partnership to create the KIPP Webb Scholars Program to provide opportunities for KIPP students interested in pursuing great careers and giving back to their communities.
This new national scholars program will provide financial support to defray the costs of college with an annual stipend for up to four years; 1:1 mentorship; attendance at a summer professional development weekend; and the opportunity to participate in a community impact project. The first cohort of Scholars will join the program in May 2023.
“The Webb Family Foundation has supported KIPP for more than a decade because we can see how they encourage young people, through academic excellence, to dream big and create the future they want for themselves and their communities,” said Maynard and Irene Webb, founders. “We see this scholarship program as a way to deepen our partnership with KIPP by supporting young people who have the resources, tools, and mentorship to become lifelong achievers–and who are inspired to pay it forward to others.”
For the first year’s cohort, KIPP Northern California Public High Schools seniors and KIPP Northern California Middle School graduates who are current high school seniors will be eligible to apply. During the second year, students who graduated from a KIPP Jacksonville Public Middle School and are current high school seniors will also be eligible to apply. The scholarship will select six students every year.
Scholars will have access to:
- Pursue a community impact project. Each scholar will have a monthly curriculum that guides them through a project that will make a lasting, measurable impact upon the scholar’s community and requires each to partner with a nonprofit or small business organization.
- Attend an annual Leadership Weekend, focused on professional development.
- Participate in a cohort consisting of the scholars in their class.
- Attend quarterly virtual webinars. Each student will have the opportunity to attend virtual events with featured guests.
- Career Mentorship. Each student will be welcome to attend KIPP corporate and civic partner network and career fairs for internships and jobs, access to KIPP Resource Liability, including resume and cover letter templates and mock interviews, become part of the KIPP Alumni Network.

Students who will be selected must demonstrate academic perseverance, personal resilience, modeled integrity, and leadership through inspiration. In addition, students with financial need pursuing a four-year college degree will be eligible to apply.
