Sr. VP of Strategy at Arizona State University Maria Anguiano Joins KIPP Foundation Board of Directors

New York, NY November 19, 2019 — The KIPP Foundation is proud to announce Maria Anguiano, Senior Vice President of Strategy at Arizona State University (ASU) has joined the KIPP Foundation Board of Directors.

“We are honored and excited to welcome Maria Anguiano to our board,” said Richard Barth, KIPP Foundation CEO. “Maria is one the country’s leaders in the effort to increase the accessibility, affordability, and quality of higher education today. Together, we will work on innovative ways to grow for the benefit of our students.”

As the Senior Vice President of Strategy at ASU, Anguiano innovates ways of serving learner populations that have traditionally not been well-served. She is also responsible for enterprise strategy and planning and the development of new opportunities to grow ASU programs in California to help meet the serious capacity issues facing the state.

“As a first-generation Latina college graduate, I am deeply passionate about expanding access to educational opportunities for students,” said Anguiano, “I am inspired by KIPP’s mission and I am thrilled to be joining the board.”

Maria Anguiano has a long history working in higher education in California, where she served as Vice Chancellor of Planning and Budget at University of California (UC) Riverside and worked at the UC Office of the President on financial and strategic system-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

She also held the position of senior advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Chief Financial Officer of ed-tech start-up Minerva Project and has held finance roles at Barclays Capital and Deloitte. She currently serves on the Board of Regents for the University of California, the board of the Campaign for College Opportunity, Foundry College, and the James Irvine Foundation. Anguiano holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Claremont McKenna College.
