Zariah Folkes

KIPP SoCal Public Schools Alum 

Zariah, an alumna of KIPP Academy of Opportunity in South Los Angeles, plans to major in computer science and launch a career where she can combine both her passion of activism and interest in technology. During high school, she spent her days discovering her passion of activism at Changeist, a social justice oriented non-profit. At Changeist, she helped create a website that compiles resources to teach renters about their tenants’ rights, became a Peer Team leader and guided learning groups focused on environmental justice. She also founded the Racial Justice Committee, a youth led group with the purpose to uplift Black voices.
