Wesley Close, 2017-18

Wesley Close KIPP NYC

After graduating from KIPP Academy in the Bronx, Wesley attended the Horace Mann School where he began to explore two very distinct passions: educational access and linguistics. Following graduation from Wesleyan University in 2015 with a BA in Latin American Studies, Wesley traveled to Arica, Chile where he taught high school English under the Chilean Ministry of Education. With a firmer grasp of the Spanish language and a heightened desire to investigate themes of access in their other manifestations, Wesley has returned to his Connecticut alma mater as the Assistant Dean of Admissions at Wesleyan University while also doing freelance content editing and Spanish-English translation for various international medical institutions in the Caribbean. Wesley hopes to pursue a degree in localization management where he will be able to enter the technology industry and promote less commonly taught languages – particularly languages from indigenous and marginalized cultures.
