KIPP Baltimore Alumna
Teisha King is an alumna of KIPP Baltimore Pride Class of 2012, where she was the valedictorian. After leaving KIPP, she attended McDonogh High School in Owing Mills, Maryland and later obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She became a Meyerhoff Scholar and consistently conducted research throughout her undergraduate career. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Louisiana, where she is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research fellow. Her research focuses on the interactions between the reproductive and immune systems in the African cichlid fish, Astatotilapia burtoni. She explores how immune response varies across reproductive states and how mounting an immune response can inhibit the performance of normal behaviors.
