KIPP NYC Public Schools Alumna
Sharlene is a proud Bronx native and daughter of Dominican immigrants on a mission to ensure that everyone, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, is treated fairly under the law. After graduating from KIPP Academy, Sharlene went on to receive her high school diploma from Trinity School and her Bachelor’s Degree from Colgate University. She is now in her third year of law school at St. John’s University School of Law and a student attorney at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, just a few blocks away from where she grew up and attended KIPP Academy. She has dedicated her law school experience to serving the public by taking on opportunities in immigration defense, criminal defense, and criminal prosecution. She loves competing in mock trial tournaments and is excited to put those skills to use as a trial attorney when she begins her legal career in 2019. Sharlene enjoys traveling and learning about cultures different from hers, but in New York, you can likely find her dancing bachata or merengue in Washington Heights!
