Rocio Guadalupe Mendoza was born in Mexico City on December 14, 1985 and grew up in Houston, Texas. Rocio attended KIPP Academy in Houston from 1995 to 1999 and went on to attend the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. Rocio sought to continue to expand her academic horizons in a milder climate at Stanford University, where she became interested in pursuing a legal education. In order to confirm her desire, Rocio took a year off to work as a paralegal at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, then attended the University of Texas School of Law and graduated with honors in Rocio is currently an oil and gas associate in the Houston office of Baker & McKenzie LLP. Throughout her journey, Rocio has remained committed to giving back to her community, in particular by remaining involved with KIPP. Rocio has been a member of the KIPP Houston Public Schools executive board since 2012 and was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.
