Nzali Scales is an Atlanta native and a proud KIPP South Fulton Academy alumna. In May 2019, she graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. During her time at Spelman, Nzali was involved in the Spelman Social Justice Program, Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program, and studied abroad in Peru, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and South Africa. Nzali is currently a graduate student in Northwestern University’s Sociology doctoral program. At Northwestern, Nzali is continuing the research that she began as an undergraduate student about food justice and its relationship to regional food cultures. Outside of her academic pursuits, Nzali is passionate about cooking and has founded a blog, Zaza’s Kitchen. On Zaza’s Kitchen, she posts recipes and cooking tips to encourage millennials to get in the kitchen and take the lead towards healthier eating. Nzali hopes to expand her reach with Zaza’s Kitchen very soon.
