Fardowsa Muhumed
KIPP Kansas City
Fardowsa, a Frontier STEM High School and KIPP Kansas City alum, intends to study courses on the pre-med track at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Her goal in pursuing medicine is to help address the racial inequities experienced by refugee mothers in the healthcare system. In addition to excelling academically, she has been involved in organizations focused on exposing students to health care professions, helped put together a cultural fashion show to showcase the diversity of cultures represented within her high school’s student body, and volunteered to translate so schools and families can communicate with one another – all while working nearly 20 hours a week and taking care of her nieces and nephews.
