National Alumni Career and Interest Communities

We are launching six new career and interest communities for alumni: Alumni Creatives, Alumni Entrepreneurs, Alumni Interested in Personal Finance, Alumni Interested in Advocacy, Alumni Teachers, and Alumni in STEM. In November, we will open an application for alumni to lead or co-lead a community. Applicants must submit a vision statement and proposal. All community leads will be paid a stipend.

Meet with a Career Coach

We joined forces with YUPRO, an award-winning placement and coaching organization specializing in historically underrepresented talent, to create a pilot program that will provide advising and job placement support to alumni with a high school degree, Associates Degree, and/or certificate. Eligible alumni must have at least two years of full-time work experience to apply for the program.

From College to Career!

i. KIPP has partnered with Braven for the Braven Career Booster program, a two-week virtual career accelerator. Recent college graduates who earned their degree in 2018, 2019, or 2020 can participate in this course for free, learning about topics including building your LinkedIn profile, interviewing for jobs, networking, and more. Interested alumni can sign up here.

  • The aim of this program is to provide alumni, with common interests and goals, a space to connect and support each other. We hope to create a lasting and inclusive space that will support and connect KIPP alumni, long after their graduation from their KIPP schools. 

  • There are two main ways alumni can take part in the KIPP Alumni Career, Interest, and Affinity Communities. First, you can lead or co-lead a community. Second, you can join one or more of the KIPP Alumni Career, Interest, and Affinity Communities.   

  • The KIPP Foundation Alumni Impact Team is looking for alumni with not only experience and passion but a vision on how to build out and support a space for the purpose of supporting and connecting alumni with one another.  

    If you’re a KIPP alum who is looking for leadership positions and interested in collaborating with us on the creation of a yearlong roadmap and strategy for different career interest or affinity community, we hope you submit a proposal!

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who are photographers, videographers, models, actors, influencers, writers, animators, and creatives. If you are looking for support as a creative or information about a creative field, this community will be there for you! 

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who own businesses to alumni thinking about getting into entrepreneurship. If you are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, or if you want to share your experience and knowledge about your journey to becoming an entrepreneur, this community is for you! 

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who have showed interested in learning and sharing knowledge and/or resources around managing their finances. No matter where you are in your financial journey, this community will be there for you!

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who have showed interest in advocacy/politics and looking for opportunities to join with other alumni on a national level. If you are looking for ways to become involved or have been active in advocacy or politics, this community is for you! 

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who have showed interest in needed a way to connect and support alumni across the country who are in or interested in emerging fields such as technology, data science, artificial intelligence etc. If you are involved or thinking about a career in these fields, this community is for you! 

  • This community is for KIPP alumni who are teachers in KIPP schools or public schools and have showed interest in needing a way to support each other. If you are thinking of becoming a teacher, or it’s your first-time teaching, or if have been teaching for some time, this community is for you!

  • YUPRO is a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Year Up where we uphold a shared social mission— support Year Up Alumni & Opportunity Talent in career readiness & securing jobs where they can earn livable wages and experience continuity of work in a professional role. 

    What are the objectives of YUPRO?   

    Coach KIPP Alumni out of high school to support both their job readiness and transition out of high school with the goal of each alum understanding more about their strengths, their interests, and their next step to college and or career. 

    What does the program include?  

    • Assistance with resume and LinkedIn completion and revision. 
    • Certified coached and dedicated account managers ensuring. participant long-term success.  
    • Soft skills: such as learning how to network, and how to conduct yourself in an interview.  
    • Access to YUPRO coaching even after program completion. 

    How long is the program?   

    Four weeks, during which you will have one session per week. 

    How much time do I need to allocate for each session? 

    During the four-week program, you can expect calls to be 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Braven is a national nonprofit organization founded by Aimée Eubanks Davis. Braven empowers promising, underrepresented young people—first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, and students of color—with the skills, confidence, experiences and networks necessary to transition from college to strong first jobs, which lead to meaningful careers and lives of impact. 

    What are the objectives of the Braven Booster?  

    To help graduating seniors and recent alumni brush up on their job readiness skills and feel prepared to enter the workforce. 

    Ensure that participants map out plans A, B, and C to land their dream job in a challenging job market.  

    What does the program include?  

    • Assistance with resume.  
    • Linkedin completion and revision. 
    • Developing soft skills: such as learning how to network, and how to conduct yourself in an interview. 
    • 1:1 coaching session upon successful completion of modules and workshops  
    • Access to Braven Network upon successful completion of modules and workshops
