About

KIPP PEACE Elementary School will open its doors for the first time in 2011-12 as the eighth KIPP early childhood and elementary school in Houston, TX. As an open enrollment public charter school, KIPP PEACE in its founding year will serve 120 Kindergarten students in the Third Ward community. PEACE stands for Protect your team, family, school and environment; Endure life challenges; Act like a leader; Commit to keeping promises; Explore new places, new people and new ideas.

KIPP PEACE Elementary School will provide students with a quality education, character development, and the knowledge and skill set necessary to assist them in persevering through life challenges and becoming successful.

Mission/Vision

KIPP PEACE Elementary School builds lifelong learners by nurturing our students' creativity, knowledge and character as we cultivate their academic, physical, emotional, and social skills that will prepare them to excel to and through college, becoming the leaders and decision makers of tomorrow.

At KIPP PEACE Elementary School our students acquire the knowledge, skills and resources necessary to overcome obstacles and excel academically to and through college. We create a learning environment where all students receive a quality education in every classroom. Students appreciate the impact each person has on the world and celebrate who they are through exploring the life journeys of others. Our students are the leaders and decision-makers of tomorrow, becoming the positive pillars of the Third Ward community.

Ways to Get Involved

Volunteer/Support: As a network of public charter schools, KIPP schools receive the majority of their funds from state and federal governments. However, KIPP offers much more than traditional schools, including an extended school day, week and year, field trips and extracurricular activities. To provide KIPP’s unique educational program, schools rely on support from community members, parents and local foundations. To learn more about how to volunteer or make a donation, please visit KIPP PEACE Elementary School.

Apply to Teach: For 2011-12, PEACE is seeking kindergarten teachers whose teaching philosophy aligns with our school’s mission. These positions must be filled by those who believe in and practice our core values: to protect every child’s right to receive a quality education, endure obstacles and challenges with dignity and grace, act like a leader with our words and actions, keep our commitments and explore new ideas and solutions to make our school a healthy and safe learning environment.
