Founded in July 2002, KIPP Austin Public Schools is a network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools that empowers a new generation to transform their futures and make a difference in their world. In East Austin, the path to college has traditionally been impeded by a lack of educational opportunity. KIPP Austin College Prep, KIPP Austin's first school, has been helping students succeed for seven years.
KIPP Austin Public Schools will empower underserved students to strengthen the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits necessary to thrive in, and graduate from, four-year colleges and universities, giving them the freedom to shape their futures and positively affect their communities.
Support - As a network of public charter schools, KIPP schools receive the majority of their funds from state and federal governments. However, KIPP offers much more than traditional schools, including an extended school day, week and year, field trips and extracurricular activities. To provide KIPP’s unique educational program, schools rely on support from community members, parents and local foundations.
